Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Sindh on Human Rights, Mr. Rajveer Singh Sodha, and Chairperson Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC), Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, conducted an official visit to District Prison Mirpurkhas.
The delegation inspected the prison, interacted with both convicted and under-trial prisoners, and assessed overall conditions including issues of legal aid, health & hygiene and daily meals.
The SHRC chair recommended:
• Expansion of vocational and skills-based training
• Enhancement of recreational and educational facilities
• Access to religious books for non-Muslim inmates
• Activation of the District Legal Empowerment Committee (DLEC)
• Timely referral of inmates needing tertiary healthcare
• Installation of solar energy solutions to improve electricity supply
