Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, Chairperson of the Sindh Human Rights Commission, was invited as a guest speaker at the Provincial Consultation Workshop on the Costed Action Plan for the Domestic Violence Act, 2013, organized by UK International Development, Pathfinder International, and UNFPA Pakistan.
In his address, Mr. Detho underscored the deep psychological and social impacts of domestic violence, especially on children’s emotional and cognitive development. He emphasized the need to move beyond legislation toward real, on-ground change.
He also stressed the importance of sensitizing police, judiciary, and healthcare workers to ensure a survivor-centered, rights-based response.
