SHRC Chairperson Meets DC Badin to Address Regional Human Rights and CSR Issues

Chairperson of the Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC), Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, held an important meeting with Mr. Yasir Bhatti, Deputy Commissioner of District Badin, to discuss critical human rights challenges in the region. Chairperson Detho emphasized that Badin holds strategic importance in the context of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and stressed the need for targeted, rights-based development initiatives.


Key concerns raised during the meeting included the alarming rise in suicides, mental health gaps, limited access to justice, and the marginalization of women, particularly those working in the informal sector and brick kiln industry.


The discussion also highlighted the Mobile Registration Van (MRV) service being provided by by SHRC in collaboration with local NGOs, which is facilitating the issuance of CNICs and birth certificates to marginalized communities documents that are essential for accessing social protection programs.


Chairperson Detho reaffirmed SHRC’s commitment to conducting a human rights baseline survey and initiating legal literacy and mental health awareness campaigns in collaboration with the district administration. SHRC remains dedicated to promoting human dignity, strengthening local governance, and safeguarding human rights across Sindh.
