Meeting on Child Marriage & Birth Registration - SHRC x SPO
The Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC) hosted a meeting with representatives from the Strengthening Participatory Organization - SPO, including Mr. Jamil Asghar Bhatti, Manager Project & Grant (CEFM), and Ms. Afreen Kanwal, Child Protection Specialist.
Chairperson SHRC, Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, shared SHRC’s commitment to addressing child marriage and improving birth registration mechanisms. He proposed collaboration with SPO to conduct training sessions for judges on these critical issues.
Mr. Bhatti highlighted SPO’s upcoming Provincial Learning Forum, focusing on: Awareness & capacity building, Engaging youth champions, Legislative reformand Training of Nikkah Khawans and Registrars.
Ms. Kanwal emphasized the importance of integrating Human Rights and Civic Education into school curricula to build a more informed and responsible generation.
