Chairperson of the Sindh Human Rights Commission, Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, held a meeting today at the SSP Office in Sanghar with Deputy Commissioner Ms. Sarah Javed and SSP Mr. Ghulam Nabi Keerio . The purpose of the meeting was to gather comprehensive details regarding the alleged forced religious conversion of three minor girls and one teenage boy from a Hindu family in Shahdadpur District Sanghar.
During the meeting, Mr. Detho sought detailed information from the district authorities about the legal and protective measures taken to ensure the safety and welfare of the affected children and their family according to Article 20,35,36 . SSP Sanghar briefed the SHRC team on the overall situation and the steps being taken by law enforcement.
Civil society member Mr. Rajesh Kumar Harsadani and DSP Shahdadpur Mr. Tanveer Shah also participated in the meeting.
Earlier in the day, Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho made an urgent visit to Shahdadpur to personally inquire into the alleged case of conversion.He met with the affected minors and their parents to understand the circumstances of the incident and to hear the children's perspectives. He also sought to clarify facts amidst widespread perception being released in the media.
Subsequently, Mr. Detho met with DSP Shahdadpur for a detailed briefing on the timeline of events and the legal complexities surrounding the case.
