On Thursday, June 19, 2025, Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, Chairperson of the Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC), participated as a key panelist in a Knowledge Workshop hosted by the Millennium Institute of Technology & Entrepreneurship (MiTE) in Karachi.
The interactive Learning Panel Discussion brought together leading voices from Karachi’s administrative and service-providing sectors to engage with university students on the theme of urban governance.
Panelists Included:
• Mr. Tariq Ali Nizamani – Managing Director, Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB)
• Mr. Shahid Jatoi – Information Commissioner, Sindh Information Commission
• Mr. Masood Alam – Project Coordinator, CLICK (Competitive & Livable City of Karachi) Project
• Mr. Amjad Rafi – Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Karachi Traffic Police
• Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho – Chairperson, SHRC
Speaking to students, Mr. Detho broke down the structure and function of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government, with a special focus on urban administration and public service delivery in Karachi. He emphasized the importance of civic awareness and youth engagement in holding urban systems accountable.
The workshop aimed to build the knowledge, curiosity, and civic responsibility of students by helping them understand how city governance operates — and how they can become part of the solution.
