The Chairperson of the Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC), Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, held a meeting with civil society members and Human Rights Defenders (HRDs) in District Larkana. Attendees included activists, social workers, youth, and community members. Mr. Detho explained SHRC’s mandate and ongoing work in the district.
Participants highlighted key issues, such as poor health services, gender-based violence, lack of shelter homes, weak education infrastructure, youth drug abuse, water scarcity, delayed justice for bonded labor cases, inaccessibility for people with disabilities, limited vocational training, child labor, encroachments on minority sites, and custodial abuse. Mr. Detho assured that all concerns would be addressed and followed up with relevant authorities.
The meeting ended with appreciation for SHRC’s efforts, and Mr. Detho reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to protecting human rights and ensuring institutional accountability in Larkana.
