One-Day Training on Human Rights Education for Police Officials at SSP Office, Larkana.

The Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC) conducted a one-day capacity-building training session for police officials of District Larkana at the SSP Office in collaboration with Sindh Police on the initiative of SSP  Larkana Mr.Ahmed Chaudry . This initiative aimed to enhance the understanding of human rights frameworks among law enforcement, with a focus on recent legislative developments concerning women, children, and vulnerable communities.


Police personnel including DSPs, SHOs, Inspectors, SIPs, IOs, ASIs, and WHCs from across the district actively participated. Barrister Aashir Masood Mahar led in-depth legal sessions on the Juvenile Justice System Act 2018, the Anti-Rape Act 2021, and relevant Pakistan Penal Code sections. SHRC Chairperson Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho conducted sessions on the Domestic Violence Act 2013 and the Sindh Child Marriage Restraint Act 2013.


Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho emphasized the police's role as frontline defenders of the state, stating, “Police is the symbol of the state — if policing is strong, the state is strong.” He underlined SHRC’s commitment to conducting similar trainings across Sindh to build a rights-respecting police force.


Participants found the training highly informative, gaining practical insights into recent laws related to women’s and children’s rights. Many officers expressed a strong interest in having such sessions held regularly for ongoing capacity building.


ASP Larkana, Mr. Muhammad Ali, praised SHRC for the initiative and encouraged officers to serve with integrity and compassion, reminding them they are the “primary hope for the marginalized.”


Deputy Commissioner Mr. Wajahat Ghafoor applauded Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho and SHRC’s efforts to institutionalize human rights training, calling it essential in today’s policing landscape.


The event concluded with certificate distribution, a group photo, and a shared commitment to promoting justice, dignity, and a human rights culture within law enforcement across Sindh.
