Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, Chairperson of the Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC), participated in the 2nd meeting of Technical Working Group (TWG) II on Consolidating Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Data and Effective Data Management. The session was organized by Legal Aid Society (LAS), UNFPA Pakistan, and Pathfinder International as part of broader efforts to strengthen multi-sectoral coordination on GBV in Sindh.
The meeting focused on a key challenge:
How do we unify fragmented data systems to build a clearer, faster, and more effective GBV response?
Mr. Detho emphasized:
• Government departments are working—but in silos, often without sharing data or insights.
• There is an urgent need for improved coordination and communication between the Bureau of Statistics and line departments.
• Sindh must adopt international data standards and best practices to ensure quality, consistency, and usability of GBV-related data across all sectors.
Accurate, timely, and shared data is critical not just for tracking GBV cases, but for shaping better policies, protecting survivors, and holding systems accountable.
