Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC), Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, and Judicial Member Mr. Mir Safdar Hussain Talpur attended the CJCC meeting in Shikarpur as special invitees, chaired by the District & Sessions Judge and attended by key district officials.
Chairperson SHRC, Mr. Detho, raised key concerns regarding policing, legal aid, and service delivery, urging the establishment of Women and Children Police Stations, better investigation training, forensic units, and timely registration of sexual assault cases with digital evidence.
It was agreed that police officers would be trained on recent amendments in the Pakistan Penal Code and relevant special laws to strengthen investigations.
SHRC recommended forming Special Sexual Offences Investigation Units under the Anti-Rape Act and Protection Committees under the Domestic Violence Act, also highlighting issues with Safe House Shikarpur services.
The District & Sessions Judge discussed legal aid for prisoners, while Mr. Detho shared SHRC’s findings on legal aid mechanisms and called for efficient fund use by all departments.
