Chairperson SHRC Attends Seminar on Youth, Peace & Preventing Extremism

Iqbal Ahmed Detho, Chairperson of the Sindh Human Rights Commission, emphasized the human rights perspective of combating extremism and the critical role of youth in promoting peace during a one-day seminar titled “Advancing Inclusive and Resilient Youth Communities Through Preventing Violent Extremism at Educational Campuses.” held on April 14, 2025, at Jinnah Sindh Medical University, Karachi, the event was organized under the Paigham-e-Pakistan initiative. Detho highlighted the importance of community engagement and education in countering radical ideologies and fostering inclusive, resilient societies.


Other notable speakers included Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zia ul Haq, Director General of the Islamic Research Institute, IIU, who delivered the keynote address, and Dr. Rustam Khan, Deputy Director at IRI, who outlined the seminar's objectives. Prof. Dr. Farhat Naz from JSMU concluded the event with closing remarks, appreciating the collaborative efforts.
