International Women’s Day Event in Shahdadkot  
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC), in collaboration with the Sindh Women Lawyers Alliance, organized a event in Shahdadkot to address women's rights and empowerment.  
Key Highlights:  
Address by SHRC Chairperson:  
Chairperson Iqbal Ahmed Detho emphasized that societal structures still fail to fully recognize women’s rights and highlighted the historical significance of Shahdadkot, the constituency of the late Benazir Bhutto, in advancing gender equality.  
Major Initiatives Announced:  
- A Women and Children’s Police Station will be established in Shahdadkot.  
- A dedicated women’s section in the local library will be created to encourage educational growth.  
- Legal reforms will be pursued to eliminate barriers against justice in cases like honor killings.  
- Collaboration with government institutions will be strengthened to improve women's rights across Sindh.  
Women in Law Enforcement:  
- One hundred and thirty-one vacancies for female police officers remain unfilled in the Larkana region; new policies will offer incentives for recruitment.  
- A women’s police station has already been established in Jacobabad, demonstrating progress.  
Social Issues and Challenges:  
- Limited access to modern facilities and social media hinders women’s awareness and empowerment.  
- Inappropriate behavior by police officials at stations often delays justice, requiring urgent reforms.  
- Cultural references from Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai were highlighted, recognizing the evolving role of women as warriors and leaders.
