Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho Speaks at Workshop on Child, Early and Forced Marriage (CEFM)
Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, Chairperson of the Sindh Human Rights Commission Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC), served as the key trainer at the Policy Review and Recommendation Workshop on Child, Early and Forced Marriage (CEFM), organized by Strengthening Participatory Organization - SPO in collaboration with Save the Children Pakistan Program.
Mr. Detho delivered a comprehensive review of the policy and legal framework on child marriage in Sindh, with a particular focus on the Sindh Child Marriage Restraint Act, 2013. He pointed out critical gaps and lacunas in the existing legislation, and drew attention to key challenges in the implementation of the law, especially those related to the police and judiciary.
His insights provided valuable guidance for improving legal protections and enforcement mechanisms to effectively address CEFM in Sindh.
