SHRC Joins Provincial Event on Combating Malnutrition & Promoting Child Rights

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐡! 


The Strengthening Participatory Organization - SPO hosted a key event to strengthen civil society’s role in nutrition advocacy across Sindh. Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, Chairperson of Sindh Human Rights Commission highlighted the first-ever Children's Rights Movement for Breastfeeding and emphasized the Geneva  Declaration on Child Rights 1924 and Bombay Children Act 1924  as key frameworks for child rights in early childhood.He also noted that child rights have been incorporated into the Sindh Human Rights Policy 2023-26.
The event highlighted critical implementation gaps , like monitoring of Infant formula milk substitutes by District Health authorities including improving nutrition inputs at basic health care facilities .


Discussions focused on combating malnutrition and enforcing the Sindh Breastfeeding Promotion & Nutrition Act 2023 and Sindh Food Fortification Act 2021 and The Sindh Compulsory Iodization of Salt Act, 2013 and Civil society representatives urged SHRC to advocate for stronger policies and government commitment to child nutrition and welfare.
