Pakistan’s energy sector faces mounting challenges, including depleting gas reserves, increasing reliance on LNG, and growing socio-economic and environmental concerns. A just and sustainable energy transition is essential.

The Indus Consortium brought together banking professionals, policymakers, civil society organizations, industry leaders, and community representatives to discuss climate-related compliance challenges and unveil two groundbreaking studies on Pakistan’s gas sector in collaboration with IBA Karachi and NUST Islamabad.
Iqbal Ahmed Detho, Chairperson of the Sindh Human Rights Commission, emphasized that a just energy transition must protect marginalized communities. He highlighted the importance of environmental justice for sustainable development and stressed the need for accountability and ethical investment in renewable energy.
