𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬
The Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC), in collaboration with Bhittai Social Watch & Advocacy(BSWA), successfully conducted a two-day training workshop on January 14, 2025, at Darbar Hall, Commissioner Office, Hyderabad. The workshop, aimed at strengthening the capacity of Sindh government officials, focused on safeguarding the rights of marginalized communities across nine districts.
Participants, including representatives from key government departments and police, gained insights into laws and policies such as the Sindh Hindu Marriage Act, Domestic Violence Act, and Sindh Child Marriages Restraint Act. SHRC Chairperson Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho emphasized the importance of free marriage and birth registrations under the CRVS system and addressed issues like forced conversions and hate speech. Trainer Mr. Kashif Siddiqi highlighted anti-discrimination laws and the role of District Peace Committees in promoting social cohesion.
The workshop concluded with Senior Superintendent of Police, Hyderabad, Mr. Farrakh Lanjar, commending the participants’ efforts. Certificates were awarded to acknowledge their dedication to protecting minority rights.
