The Provincial Conference for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) aimed to influence the discourse on the rights of Persons with Disabilities by identifying actionable steps to address key challenges faced by the PWD community in Pakistan.
At the Conference Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, Chairperson Sindh Human Rights Commission emphasized the importance of compliance with international treaties to which Pakistan is a signatory.
The Chairperson highlighted key treaties ratified by Pakistan during his discussion.
• The International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD).
• The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).
• The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).
• The International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR).
• The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).
Pakistan is legally bound to implement these treaties domestically, ensuring justice, equality, and dignity for all. Let’s work together to align national policies with these global commitments.
