The Chairperson of the Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC), Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho and team along with SSP Captain (R) Saddam Hussain visited & inspected the work of the under-construction women’s police station (one stop protection center) in the district. The Sindh Governments initiative for establishing centres through Home Dept ( Sindh Police) and tireless efforts of other stakeholders for the establishment of such facility in Jacobabad is becoming a reality. Mr. Detho also highlighted the urgent need for a women’s police station, citing the alarming prevalence of cases of harassment at public places , honor killings and domestic violence in the area.
The women’s police station is expected to be completed by June 2025. SHRC urged concerned authorities including AIG Sindh Police, SSP Saddam Hussain for the timely completion of development work. Mr. Detho emphasized promoting participation and recruitment of women police constables to ensure their active participation in law enforcement and leadership and addressing the issues of GBVs.
In addition to the women’s jail and police station, SHRC is committed for establishing /functioning of a Darul Aman (shelter home) in Jacobabad to provide protection and support for women facing violence. These initiatives mark a significant step toward ensuring safety, justice, and empowerment for women in Jacobabad by concerned departments.
