Iqbal Ahmed Detho represented the Sindh Human Rights Commission as a distinguished panelist at the 27th Sustainable Development Conference (SDC) and the 2nd Sustainability Investment Expo (SIE), held from November 4-7, 2024, at the Pakistan-China Friendship Centre in Islamabad.
Organized by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) in collaboration with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination (MoCC&EC), and Solidarity Centre & International Labour Organization - Pakistan, this year's theme, "From Fragility to Resilience: Enhancing Sustainable Development," brought together leaders and experts to pioneer solutions for a sustainable future.
Mr. Detho highlighted the essential role of socio-climate compliance in building resilience for labor and industry, addressing the pressing challenges in climate resilience, labor rights, and sustainable economic development. His insights emphasized the need for inclusive strategies that protect human rights and empower workers amid climate challenges.
This session was chaired by Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri, Chairperson of the Senate Functional Committee on Human Rights.
