The second meeting of the Provincial Steering Committee on the Sindh Human Rights Policy for action plan development was chaired by Ms. Tahseen Fatima, Secretary of the Human Rights Department, Government of Sindh. All committee members attended this important session. Mr. Jamil Junejo, Executive Coordinator of the Treaty Implementation Cell, provided a comprehensive overview of the Sindh Human Rights Policy action plan, outlining its key aspects and objectives. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss pending issues and review the plans submitted by the department.
During the meeting, Iqbal Ahmed Detho, Chairperson of the Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC), shared insights on several critical areas. He discussed constitutional and international commitments related to human rights, including the constitutional framework, GSP+, SDGs, and other global obligations. He also outlined SHRC’s strategy for policy dissemination and presented detailed reports on pressing human rights issues, such as transgender rights, the rights of persons with disabilities, child rights, and minority rights.
