Fisherwoman Assembly 2024 Launch

Chairperson of the Sindh Human Rights Commission, Iqbal Ahmed Detho, graced the opening ceremony of the *Fisherwoman Assembly 2024* organized by the Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum at Ibrahim Hydari, Karachi. As the Chief Guest, he emphasized the importance of supporting and empowering fisherwomen, a vital part of our coastal communities.

The event kicked off an awareness campaign focused on the welfare of fisherwomen, with the participation of political, social, and human rights leaders, as well as media representatives. Key discussions centered around international laws, maritime boundaries, and addressing the challenges faced by fishermen, including the return of those caught at the Indian-Pakistan maritime border.

Chairperson also stressed the need for improvement of basic facilities such as schools and hospitals in coastal areas to ensure the well-being of these communities.
