Empowering Women, Ensuring Equality!
Iqbal Ahmed Detho, Chairperson of Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC), along with his team, attended the Stakeholder Forum on Women Property Rights and Inclusion of More Women in Police Force organized by Women Development Foundation Pakistan - WDFP as the Guest of Honor.
Mr. Detho emphasized SHRC's unwavering commitment to protecting vulnerable communities, especially women, children, and minorities. He highlighted crucial rights:
Women have equal property rights (Constitutional Provisions 23 & 24). Rights to equality of Protection and non-discrimination on the basis of sex (25(2)) of Constitution. Security and well-being are guaranteed for all (Article 38). Protection of family and marriage (Article 35 of Marriage Law). Willful deprivation of Women from property right is a criminal offense (PPC 498-A))
Moreover, Mr. Detho stressed the importance of increasing women's representation in the police force. This, he noted, is crucial for ensuring equality and providing a safe space for women victims who often hesitate to report injustices due to lack of female representation at police stations.
The SHRC team's tireless efforts under Mr. Iqbal's leadership ensure that the rights to freedom, justice, morality, and equality are upheld and protected.
