Chairperson (SHRC) visited District Jail Shikarpur

Chairperson Sindh Human Rights Commission, Iqbal Ahmed Detho, accompanied by Member (SHRC) M. Ayub khosa and the legal team, visited District Jail Shikarpur to inspect the facility and address concerns related to prisoners' rights. They were welcomed by Mr. Abdul Qadeer Palijo, Superintendent of Shikarpur Prison. Key issues identified during the visit included the lack of books in the library, the absence of mosquito nets, and the need for physiotherapy services. The SHRC delegation also visited the hospital ward, where a prisoner named Deedar requested a transfer to Karachi for specialized medical treatment.

Additionally, several inmates raised the need for legal aid, which was discussed with the legal team present. At the Rehabilitation Center, Mr. Detho suggested that jail authorities introduce sports activities to promote inmates' physical and mental well-being. The SHRC will follow up to ensure these issues are addressed and to support ongoing rehabilitation efforts.
