Chairperson of the Sindh Human Rights Commission, Iqbal Ahmed Detho, served as a subject matter expert, delivering an insightful lecture on "Issues and Welfare of Children in Pakistan" at the National Institute of Management - NIM Karachi. This enlightening session was part of its 36th Senior Management Course. Senior Officers falling in the promotion zone of BS-20 from Federal and Provincial Governments attended the course, which focuses on public policy formulation and implementation at the strategic level.
The Chairperson's lecture addressed key issues related to children's welfare in Pakistan, covering their rights, legal protections, and the challenges of child labor and abuse. He highlighted malnutrition, stunting, and infant mortality, along with policies to address these issues. The discussion also included the rights of children with disabilities, Pakistan's international commitments, and future policy options.
Participants gained valuable insights into the Constitutional and Legal Framework, as well as the Institutional Mechanism established for the protection and promotion of children’s rights in Pakistan. The lecture provided a comprehensive overview of the current state of children's welfare in our country.
