The Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO Pakistan), in collaboration with the Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC), hosted an informative orientation session for Sindh Assembly Parliamentarians. The focus was on addressing Trafficking in Persons (TIP) and Bonded Labour in Sindh.
Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho Chairperson (SHRC) explained the Bonded Labour Abolition Act of 2015 and stressed the importance of implementing UN conventions and reactivating District Vigilance Committees to combat these violations effectively. This session is a call to action for legislators to protect vulnerable populations and strengthen legislative frameworks.
Syed Kausar Abbas, Executive Director of (SSDO) provided an overview of the current state of trafficking in Pakistan and discussed the 2018 federal law, urging lawmakers to take action. He shared real-life cases, particularly affecting women and children, highlighting the need for collective efforts.
