The First Introductory Meeting of the Provincial Steering Committee on the Sindh Human Rights Policy was held yesterday, chaired by Secretary of the Human Rights Department, Ms. Tahseen Fatima. All committee members were present for this important session. Mr. Jamil Junejo, Executive Coordinator of the Treaty Implementation Cell, provided a comprehensive overview of the Sindh Human Rights Policy, outlining its key aspects and objectives.
During the meeting, Chairperson Iqbal Ahmed Detho of the Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC) delivered insights into several critical areas. He discussed the constitutional and international commitments related to human rights, including the constitutional framework, GSP+, SDGs, and other global obligations. Additionally, he outlined SHRC’s strategy for policy dissemination and presented detailed reports on pressing human rights issues such as transgender rights, rights of persons with disabilities, child rights, and minority rights.
