Chairperson, Sindh Human Rights Commission, Iqbal Ahmed Detho attended a national consultation hosted by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP Pakistan) on “Making Elections Accessible and Meaningful for People with Disabilities in Pakistan” in Islamabad.
The multi-stakeholder event issued a compelling call for both provincial and federal governments to ensure the full implementation of Pakistan’s national and international legal obligations for removing all forms of barriers faced by voters with disabilities. The event also urged government stakeholders to steadfastly incorporate the Accessibility Code of Pakistan 2006 in the construction of all public infrastructure.
