Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, Chairperson of the Sindh Human Rights Commission, was the Guest of Honor at the 3rd Consultative Session on Technical Assistance Needs Assessment (TANA) Study on Transgender People’s Access to Justice. by UNODC Pakistan.
In his address, Mr. Detho emphasized the importance of transgender rights and highlighted the ongoing challenge against the Federal Shariat Court’s decision on certain articles of the Transgender Act, 2018, now under review by the Shariat Bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
He passionately spoke about the outdated colonial laws that hinder equal opportunities for the transgender community in all areas of life—social, cultural, economic, and beyond.
