The Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC) and Musawi organized an Awareness Event on Women's Marriage Rights in Larkana. The primary focus of the event was to raise awareness about women's marriage rights, particularly the importance of understanding and properly filling out the Nikahnama (marriage contract). Barrister Khadija Bokhari, Director of Musawi delivered the keynote presentation. She educated the participants on women's marriage rights, highlighting the critical role of the Nikkahnama in safeguarding these rights. Her insightful discussion shed light on the often-overlooked details of the marriage contract, empowering women with essential knowledge.
To cater to the diverse linguistic needs of the participants, Advocate Ahmed (Law Consultant -SHRC) translated Barrister Bokhari’s speech from Urdu to Sindhi. This ensured that the information was accessible to all attendees, many of whom were more comfortable with Sindhi.
The event also featured pre- and post-assessment surveys to evaluate the participants' understanding before and after the session. These assessments indicated a significant improvement in knowledge, underscoring the effectiveness of the event.
This event marks a significant step towards increasing awareness of women's marriage rights in Larkana, ensuring that more women are informed and empowered to protect their rights.
