Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC) and Musawi organized a session to raise awareness about women's marriage rights and provide legal aid in collaboration with Shah Abdul Latif Bhattai University's Peace Corner and Bhittai Social Watch & Advocacy(BSWA) in Khairpur. The event aimed to educate women about their marriage rights, with a particular focus on the significance of understanding and properly filling out the Nikkahnama (marriage contract).
Khadim Mirani, CEO of BSWA, welcomed attendees and acknowledged the vital contributions of SHRC and Musawi in promoting human rights. Barrister Khadija Bokhari, Director of Musawi, delivered a comprehensive keynote presentation, enlightening participants about women's marriage rights and the crucial role of the Nikkahnama in protecting these rights. Advocate Mohsin (Legal Consultant - SHRC) provided simultaneous translation from Urdu to Sindhi, ensuring inclusivity for all participants.
Pre- and post-event surveys assessed participants' understanding, revealing a significant increase in knowledge. This event marks a crucial step towards empowering women in Khairpur to assert their marriage rights, ensuring a more informed and protected community.
