The Sindh Human Rights Commission in collaboration with Legal Aid Society Sukkur Division is actively addressing the issue of the Sindh Hindu Marriages (Amendment) Act 2018 not being implemented.
On May 10th, SHRC held meetings in district Khairpur. Deputy Commissioner Khairpur Mir's Syed Ahmed Fawad extended a warm welcome to the participants, with SSP Khairpur also in attendance. Board Member SHRC, Mr. Sukhdev Assardas Hemnani, led these meetings alongside district administration and officials from various departments.
Mr. Sukhdev underscored the importance of the 'right to family' as a fundamental human right, as enshrined in the Constitution of Pakistan and international declarations. He highlighted the significant role of the Sindh Hindu Marriages (Amendment) Act 2018 in ensuring this right for the Hindu/Sikh/Jain communities.
Participants from line departments pledged to ensure the effective implementation of this law throughout the district, aiming to protect the fundamental rights of vulnerable communities.
