Member Judicial-II (SHRC) Consultation Meeting on Gender Mainstreaming and the Social Inclusion Framework

M. Aslam Shaikh, Member Judicial-II of the Sindh Human Rights Commission, attended a consultation meeting on gender mainstreaming and the social inclusion framework held on April 30, 2024, in the conference room of the Election Commission Of Pakistan - ECP office. The meeting was chaired by the Provincial Election Commissioner.

Ms. Nighat Siddiqui, ADJ (GSI) ECP attended alongside representatives of civil society, the HRCP, transgender, persons with disabilities, and government department officials, including the SHRC.

The focus of the consultation was to discuss the participation of gender, persons with disabilities, and marginalized groups. The discussion revolved around amending/inserting rules in the current legislation and recommending the same.

Judicial Member-II also took part in the consultation and highlighted the efforts of the SHRC in resolving issues faced by the transgender community particular their CNICs and awareness sessions held under the chairmanship of Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho the Chairperson of the Sindh Human Rights Commission. The attendees admired the efforts and role of the SHRC.
