Another impactful visit by the Sindh Human Rights Commission team, alongside DC Hyderabad and Commissioner Hyderabad, as we journeyed to Darul Atfaal in Hyderabad.
Despite the children being at school, we delved into discussions about their well-being. With 20 young souls residing there and a capacity for only 35, it’s clear that more support is needed.
The SHRC team discovered the absence of emergency exits in the building, posing a significant safety concern for these children.
With 3 to 4 cases of abandonment or sexual abuse reported monthly. It’s a stark reminder of the challenges many children face.
Necessary recommendations were provided by the SHRC Chairperson to the DC and Commissioner. Additionally, Mr. Iqbal stressed the urgent need for the Child Protection Unit to be separated from Darul Atfaal, allowing for a more focused approach to safeguarding children’s rights.
