Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace awareness seminar organized by Szabist Karachi.

Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, Chairperson of the Sindh Human Rights Commission offered valuable insights about the legal framework available addressing the subject. He emphasized on importance of section 509 of the Pakistan Penal Code as remedy for criminal liability in cases of Harassment at Workplace, Private and Public Place and also discussed concerns regarding Federal & Provincial commissions duplication and replication functions. Additionally, he highlighted the Sindh Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Act 2013, and also mentioned that collaboration between SHRC and the Women Development Department (WDD) and other stakeholders particularly engaging with the upcoming Provincial Assembly & government departments to establish Protection committees and appoint Women Protection Officers under the law.
