Mr. M. Aslam Shaikh, Member Judicial-II of Sindh Human Rights Commission participated in the 16 Days of Activism event organized by Pathfinder International Women Development Department, UNFPA , and Sehatmand Khandan. Mrs. Rana Hussain, Minister of Women Development, graced the occasion as the chief guest. This event, observed annually from November 25th, recognized as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to December 10th, celebrated as Human Rights Day, marks the "16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence." Originating in 1991, this global initiative unites individuals and organizations worldwide in a steadfast commitment to preventing and eradicating violence against women and girls.
The event's focus aimed to raise awareness about extending legal rights to women and providing them with opportunities for empowerment. It highlighted the ongoing targeting of women in society and the lack of stringent measures in place. Emphasizing the need for women to have access to technical education and skills, enabling their financial and economic empowerment, was also underscored.
Additionally, it was shared that Pathfinder and WDD are collaboratively working toward women's welfare and unifying efforts to eliminate gender-based violence.
