World Children’s Day Celebration 2023

The Sindh Human Rights Commission in collaboration with the Society For The Protection Of The Rights Of Children SPARC marked World Children’s Day 2023 with a profound event. The gathering focused on addressing challenges encountered by children, placing special emphasis on the impact of Climate Change and Environmental issues.

During the event of INTERNATIONAL Children’s Day, Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, Chairperson Sindh Human Rights Commission, extended appreciation to SPARC for their dedicated commitment to the cause of child rights. He addressed the hardships faced by children, particularly those living in poverty and working as labourers.

Mr. Detho highlighted the negative impact of child marriages and stressed the importance of enforcing the Child Marriages Restraint Act. He urged leaders and administrators to actively work towards implementing the law and decreasing the prevalence of early marriages.

In his discourse, Mr. Detho underscored the significance of providing education to girl children and conducted an enlightening session on distinguishing between good and bad touch, aiming to empower children with essential knowledge. He emphasized that remaining silent serves as the root cause of the escalating crimes against children, urging for collective action to ensure their protection.

Additionally, Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho took a stand against the tragic events in Gaza, condemning the killing of over 10,000 residents, including 5,000 children, by Israeli forces.

M. Aslam Sheikh, Judicial Member II, Sindh Human Rights Commission resonated with the crowd, sharing profound insights. He emphasized the pivotal role children play in shaping the future of Pakistan, stressing, “Children have the biggest stakes in the Future of Pakistan.

Furthermore, Sheikh underscored the ever-evolving landscape and the crucial role of technical skills in the new generation. His emphasis on the importance of acquiring technical skills resonates with the changing demands of the future, fostering a path for a brighter tomorrow.

At our event on International Children’s Day, the young talents from Noorani Naval School stole the show with a captivating theatre!

The theatre beautifully conveyed the significance of granting children, especially our daughters, the freedom to make choices in every aspect of life.

During the event of World Children's Day, Secretary, Human Rights Department, Government of Sindh, Ms. Tehseen Fatima highlighted a pressing concern: More than 20 million children are currently out of school. She shed light on the critical importance of education for the children, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to ensure that every child has the opportunity to access quality education.

In addressing this significant issue, Tehseen Fatima’s words resonated with a call to action, urging society to prioritize and work towards providing educational opportunities for all children.
