The Moorat March, an initiative by Transgender individuals, resonated with demands for their rightful place in society. Demonstrating resilience and unity, they showcased their aspirations and needs.
Mr. Murtaza Wahab, Mayor of Karachi, lauded the efforts of the Trans community in organizing this significant event. He highlighted the presence of a Transgender as a counselor in the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, affirming the commitment of the PPP Government towards eradicating discrimination from our society.
Joining hands in solidarity, Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho Chairperson of the Sindh Human Rights Commission, Mr. M. Aslam Shaikh, Board Member (SHRC), alongside their team, actively participated in the Moorat March.
Mr. Detho emphasized the fundamental right of Transgender individuals to a legal identity, advocating for their recognition as the third gender. He pledged SHRC's unwavering commitment to tackling issues concerning transgender individuals, working closely with a range of stakeholders. He further emphasized SHRC’s interventions in addressing matters related to the transgender community.
