Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, Chairperson of the Sindh Human Rights Commission attended the National Judicial Conference 2023 organized by the Justice Helpline International and Legal Aid & Justice Authority (LAJA) Government of Pakistan
to strengthen the legal aid regime through legal aid and Justice Authority responsibilities of state, Judiciary and Development Sector.
Mr. Shahab Sarki, Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Justice Salahuddin Panhwar, Judge Sindh High Court, Barrister Omer Somroo, Minister for Law, Religious Affairs, Human Rights, Parliamentary Affairs, Criminal Prosecution, Auqaf, Zakat and Ushr departments, Prof. GN Qureshi, Former Chief Legal Advisor Board of Revenue, legal fraternity, along with other notable personalities and media attended the conference.
Mr. Detho Shared that SHRC developed a policy brief & mapped legal aid mechanisms in the Sindh Province. It provides comprehensive recommendations on the provision of quality free legal aid to the citizens. He announced that he presented this information at the 8th Judicial Conference, with plans for its imminent publication.
