M. Aslam Shaikh, Member Judicial-II of the Sindh Human Rights Commission attended a seminar on "Health and Safety" organized by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry.

Mr. Shaikh addressed the importance of health and safety as a fundamental right for every citizen, enshrined in the Constitution of Pakistan. This underscores the importance of ensuring that all individuals have access to quality healthcare and are protected from health-related risks.

He also highlighted a significant issue regarding the non-availability of specialist doctors at the Taluka-level hospitals, along with the absence of emergency wards. This shortage of healthcare resources at the local level can impact the timely treatment and care of patients. Further, he suggested promoting the use of herbal/Unani medicine. He also emphasized the need for establishing research centers in the pattern of China and India.

It was mentioned in the event that the World Health Organization (WHO) collaborates with the Health Department to ensure that healthcare is accessible to all without discrimination. This collaboration reflects the global commitment to achieving universal health coverage and ensuring the well-being of all citizens.

Ms. Nafeesa Shah, Former MNA-PPP joined the seminar as the Chief Guest.

Other speakers at the seminar shared valuable suggestions and insights related to health and safety. These suggestions likely contributed to a comprehensive discussion on the topic.
