The Urban Resource Center organized a meeting to discuss “How can the Urban Power Affect land use management in Karachi.”
Mr. Arif Hassan, Chairman of Urban Resource Center, shared his wealth of experiences and shed light on the complexities of the topic. Professor Dr. Nauman Ahmed, Dean of the Architecture and Planning faculty, delivered a presentation on the subject and discussed the positive outcomes of community education, engaging with market actors and government, and the significance of active participation in local and national politics.
Ms. Fareeda Tahir, Public Relation officer of the Sindh Human Rights Commission, stressed the significance of the Public Hearing component in multiple Acts, particularly its direct relevance to land-related matters. She called upon the government to be more proactive in utilizing this component to address pressing issues.
It was an enlightening discussion that highlighted the need for collaborative efforts in shaping the future of our city.
