M. Aslam Shaikh, Judicial Member-II Sindh Human Rights Commission participated in the event focused on assessing the progress of the Senior Citizens Welfare Act 2014. The event was chaired by Ms. Shamim Mumtaz MPA Sindh Assembly.

During the event, Mr. Aslam Shaikh actively engaged in the conversation, shedding light on the challenges encountered during the implementation of this crucial law. His valuable insights and expertise brought forth meaningful discussions.

Ms. Shireen Narejo, Secretary Social Welfare, Government of Sindh, informed the audience that amendments to the rules have not yet been allowed, but she expressed confidence that the necessary amendments would be issued in due course. Consequently, the issuance of senior citizens cards has been temporarily affected.

A key proposal that emerged from the discussions was the establishment of a separate office dedicated to senior citizens, ensuring their concerns receive prompt attention. Regular meetings at this dedicated office would foster better coordination and efficient implementation of senior citizens' welfare.
