Chairperson of the Sindh Human Rights Commission, Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, delivered an impactful speech today at the Pro-bono Legal Aid Workshop on Human Rights Laws organized by the Pakistan Legal United Society.

In a dedicated session on 'Human Rights Laws and its Enforcement,' Chairperson SHRC Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Detho, shed light on the crucial aspects of ensuring the proper implementation and protection of human rights in our society. His insightful remarks captivated the audience and sparked meaningful discussions.

The workshop, moderated by Mr. Ganesh Kumar, Program Coordinator of the Pakistan Legal United Society (PLUS), offered a platform to share the vision, mission, and remarkable achievements of the organization. Additionally, Mr. Ali and Mr. Sajjad, members of the Para Legal Team, engaged participants in an interactive session, enlightening them about the organization's working processes.

During the event, Ms. Rizwana Patel, Executive Director of PLUS, provided valuable insights into the organization's project activities and shared notable cases handled by their team. Mr. Imtiaz provided a comprehensive briefing on the Monitoring and Evaluation system of PLUS, showcasing their commitment to accountability and transparency.

Mr. Zulfiqar Shah, a Member of the Sindh Human Rights Commission, shed light on the challenges faced in accessing legal services and emphasized the importance of legal assistance for all individuals.

Barrister Rida Tahir, a Legal Consultant at the SHRC, delivered a interesting speech on the Ethical Duties of Lawyers. She emphasized the significance of independence, avoiding conflicts of interest, and maintaining client confidentiality. She highlighted the need for lawyers to work with honesty, integrity, and always in the best interest of their clients, Ms. Rida also spoke regarding Rules 134 and 159 of the Pakistan Legal Practitioners and Bar Council Rules 1976 as being important for Pakistan’ Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils.

Mr. Sibghtaullah Mahar, Secretary of the Human Rights Department, Government of Sindh, highlighted the valuable contributions of the department in providing Pro-Bono Legal Aid Services, underscoring the commitment of the government to uphold human rights.

Mr. Surender Valasai, Minister of the Human Rights Department, Government of Sindh, discussed the importance of Human Rights Laws and the vital role played by enforcement agencies in Sindh. His insights shed light on the government's efforts to safeguard human rights in the province.

The workshop concluded with the closing remarks delivered by Mr. Altaf Hussain Khoso, CEO of PLUS. His inspiring words left the audience motivated to continue their efforts in advocating for human rights. The event culminated with a certificate distribution ceremony to recognize the participants' dedication and commitment to advancing the cause of human rights.
