Promoting Transgender Access to Justice
Mr. Aslam Shaikh, Judicial Member II Sindh Human Rights Commission, attended a highly productive consultative session on the Technical Assistance Needs Assessment (TANA) study regarding Transgender Access to Justice.
The key objectives of the consultative workshop were to showcase and highlight interventions and developments relating to transgender persons’ rights within CJIs in Sindh. Secondly identifying specific program opportunities, potential partners, and areas of technical assistance for UNODC to support ongoing transgender issues reform efforts within CJIs in Sindh. Thirdly to develop a set of recommendations for the elaboration of programs of intervention to support the Government of Sindh in the areas concerning transgender issues based on an assessment of legal, policy, and operational framework of the CJIs and other concerned departments and civil society organizations.
It was highlighted to safeguard the rights of transgender individuals. It emphasized the importance of identifying current practices, addressing gaps, and overcoming challenges in order to ensure easy access to justice for all.
