Do you know that even young ones are not spared from the flaws in our justice system?
It's alarming that there are juvenile inmates in our society, and the Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC) is deeply concerned about their welfare.
During a recent visit to the Juvenile Jail, we discovered that 24 juveniles were detained, with 19 under trial and 5 already convicted. The Chairperson of the SHRC referred some cases to the Legal Aid Office (Committee for the Welfare of Prisoners) to hasten the legal proceedings.
At SHRC, we strongly believe that every child has the right to a fair trial and access to justice. It is our duty to ensure that their fundamental rights are protected, and that they receive the care and support they need.
