The Sindh Human Rights Commission and the National Commission on Human Rights Regional office Sindh jointly organized the meeting on “Promoting Peace for Human Rights” on 18th July 2022 at NCHR Office, Karachi.
SHRC Chairperson Justice (Retd) Majida Razvi and National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) Member Ms. Anis Haroon co-chaired the meeting that was attended by the Sindh Commission on the Status of Women (SCSW) Chairperson Ms. Nuzhat Shirin, Joint Action Committee (a conglomerate of several civil rights organizations) Coordinator Ms. Mehnaz Rehman and human rights activists Prof Asghar Dashti, Adam Malik, Shahid Jatoi, Naghma Iqtidar, Abdul Wahid Baloch, Sarah Zaman, Anita Panjani, Jugdesh Ahuja, Shireen Ajaz and Adnan Khaskhalay.
The main purpose of the meeting was to address Sindh’s ongoing situation and meeting participants demanded that the government come up with a clear policy on Afghan immigrants, including their status, and make sure that all Afghans were repatriated respectfully and their stay in Pakistan be governed under the UN regulations.
They said that laws and regulations governing demography should be revisited and reformed as per existing realities.
