On December 14, 2021, the Sindh Human Rights Commission, Government of Sindh, and Aurat Foundation held a "Stakeholder Consultation" at the Marriot Hotel in Karachi as part of the project "Strengthening Sindh Human Rights Commission for CVE (Countering Violent Extremism) Oversight and Peace Building."
The project aims to produce an official report for SHRC with CVE/VE-focused policy recommendations for government and elected officials, based on information gathered through training, research, and community engagement.
Ms. Mahnaz Rahman, Resident Director, Aurat Foundation welcomed all the participants.
Mr. Mohsin Abbas Syed, Legal Expert recapped the first day consultation formulation/legislation of ‘Sindh Commission on Minorities’ and then discussed the ‘Civilian Victims of Terrorism (Relief and Rehabilitation)’ including Policy paper and Recommendations.
The program was moderated by Muneezeh Khan, Project Manager, Aurat Foundation.
The outcome of the Stakeholder Consultation included analyzing critical gaps covering minority issues, related laws, policy recommendation and SHRC’s role in the entire process. The legislation on Sindh Minority Commission and Civilian Victim’s Relief and Rehabilitation in the province was also taken up. Justice (R) Majida Razvi, Chairperson Sindh Human Rights Commission concluded on the way forward."
