Sindh Human Rights Commission has organized an orientation meeting of Ms. Miriam Neale, Head of Signatory engagement, Bangladesh Accord Foundation with the Members and staff of the SHRC on 25 September 2019 at SHRC office. Justice (R) Majida Razvi welcomed the Ms. Miriam Neale and then Ms. Zeenia Shoukat, Visiting Researcher gave the brief introduction of SHRC. Ms. Mariam Neale gave the overview of the Accord’s key mechanisms and informed the participants that it is an accord between the globally brands/retailers and the unions. There is from brands side 193-germent brands, retailers and importers from 22 countries and on the other side there are unions like UN Global union, Industrial Global Unions and Industrial Bangladesh Council affiliates. She further said that there are many things included in the Bangladesh accord like ensuring safe workplaces, safety committee training program, right to refuse unsafe work, safety hazards. She added that Complain mechanism is also very strong in the accord.
