On May 15th, 2024, the Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC), in partnership with the Civil Society, Local Government Department, and Minority Affairs Department, Sindh Government, hosted an impactful awareness session for Local Government officials in MirpurKhas. This session aimed to bridge the knowledge gap hindering the effective implementation of the Sindh Hindu Marriage (Amendment) Act, 2018.

The Act is crucial for protecting Hindu community rights but faces implementation challenges due to a lack of awareness among Local Government officials. The session featured contributions from Mr. Sukhdev Assardas Hemnani (Member SHRC), the Additional Director of the Local Government Department, MirpurKhas, Mr. Abdul Wahab Abbasi, and Ms. Pushpa Kumari & Mr. Jai Parkash representative from National lobbying Delegation (NLD), civil society. Their insights aimed to ensure the Act is effectively implemented at the grassroots level, safeguarding Hindu community rights across Sindh.
