Board Member (SHRC) Mr. Sukhdev Assardas Hemnani joined the follow-up meeting regarding the implementation of the Sindh Hindus Marriage (Amendment) Act, 2018

Board Member Sindh Human Rights Commission Mr. Sukhdev Assardas Hemnani joined the follow-up meeting regarding the implementation of the Sindh Hindus Marriage (Amendment) Act, 2018 at the Minority Affairs Department, Government of Sindh on April 30th, 2024. He discussed the progress made in complying with the action points outlined during the previous meeting held on April 16th, 2024.

During the discussion, Member SHRC informed the Chair that, through the concerted efforts of the SHRC, the Secretary of Local Government had already disseminated a letter to all respective directors and additional directors across the province. This letter aimed to facilitate logistical support for the Sindh Human Rights Commission, Government of Sindh, and the Minority Affairs Department, Government of Sindh. The objective was to initiate training sessions for Local Government Officials, as agreed upon in the meeting on April 16th, 2024.

Moreover, the Member SHRC shared the anticipated schedule of orientation sessions with Local Government officials in the Sukkur Division. In response, the Secretary of the Minority Affairs Department assured their support for the same program. This collaboration underscores a commitment to ensuring effective implementation and adherence to the amended act, ultimately enhancing the protection of minority rights in Sindh.
